Nutrition for gastritis: what can and cannot be eaten?
Gastritis is one of the most common illnesses of our time. Frequent snacks and meals on the go, a wide variety of fast foods, poisoning from poor-quality food - all of these can cause gastritis. This is probably why many people today suffer from stomach problems. But how to treat them?
For this, it is not at all necessary to constantly take medication, the main thing in the treatment is a correct and well-chosen diet, which will not cause irritation of the mucous membrane and exacerbation of the disease, but at the same time will saturate the body with all the necessary macronutrients and vitamins.
<1_img_centerxx>Basic rules
The main task of the diet for gastritis is to adhere to a diet that ensures normal digestion. The treatment table for gastritis (per day) should contain:
- 90-100 gr. squirrel (and 60% animals),
- 50-80 gr. fat (75% animals)
- 300-320 gr. carbohydrates.
Nutritional rules for gastritis:
- Knowledge of measurement. With gastritis, the saying "after a meal should remain a slight feeling of hunger" is more relevant than ever. Firstly, the feeling of fullness does not occur until 10 to 15 minutes after eating, and secondly, an overflowing stomach does not manage its functions well, especially with gastritis.
- Diet. First of all, you need to track the food intake (at the same time). Secondly, with gastritis, food should be fractionated, 4-5 times a day, but at the same time snacks should be refused (they cause "excessive" secretion of gastric juice and reduce its production during breakfast /lunch / dinner, which violates the processes of food processing and assimilation). You should categorically exclude reading while eating, watching TV, and "running on the go. "
- Rest after eating. After each meal, you need to rest for 15-20 minutes (it is not necessary to sleep). You can read a book or listen to music.
- Chew food. Prolonged chewing of food (at least 25-30 seconds for each piece) contributes to more thorough mechanical processing of food, which makes the work of a sick stomach easier. In addition, the hunger in this case is satisfied more quickly (which avoids overeating). Refusal of complex dishes
The total energy value should be 2200-2800 kcal.
Nutrition with high acidity
With this form of gastritis, it is recommended to use a diet aimed at thermally and mechanically sparing the stomach, as well as reducing gastric secretion.
Authorized products:
- casseroles, cheesecakes, dumplings, baked cheesecakes;
- milk, in particular with tea, all types of fermented milk products, including yoghurt and yoghurt, fresh cottage cheese puree;
- fish, meat or chicken soups cooked in cereal broth;
- dry white crackers, vegetables and butter, milk soups with cereals or pasta;
- steamed omelets, bagged eggs, vegetable dishes in the form of mashed potatoes, puddings, soufflés, weak tea, sweet fruits and berries in jelly, creams and compotes;
- veal, lean beef, chicken in the form of meatballs, puddings, zraz, steamed cutlets (1-2 times a week it is allowed to eat lean boiled meat in pieces).
Prohibited products:
- fatty broths of mushrooms and meat;
- soft drinks;
- smoked meats with spices;
- raw vegetables, pickles, pickles, spicy vegetable snacks, lemon juice;
- black bread.
The purpose of the diet is to exacerbate gastritis with high acidity to normalize the functioning of the intestines and stomach, limiting thermal, chemical and mechanical stimuli.
Nutrition with low acidity
The purpose of the diet for low acidity gastritis is to stimulate (in moderation) the production of gastric juice, as well as the mechanical sparing of the stomach.
Foods prohibited for hypoacid gastritis:
- restriction of pearl barley, legumes, millet;
- fresh bread, baked goods ("heavy" food for the stomach, complicates chemical and mechanical processing);
- fatty and salted fish;
- coarse fiber vegetables and fruits (white cabbage, turnips, radishes, cucumbers, peppers), mushrooms;
- fatty meat, meat with fascia (films), canned food, smoked meats (improper mechanical processing of food, excessive release of hydrochloric acid);
- varieties of spicy and salty cheeses, milk - neutralizes hydrochloric acid;
- berries with grains or thick skin (raspberries, strawberries, red currants, gooseberries, figs);
- spices and herbs (irritate the lining of the stomach), as well as chocolate, grape juice, alcohol;
- lard and fat from pork, beef, lamb (not absorbed due to low production of hydrochloric acid, products that are difficult to digest).
Food should be taken after the onset of hydrochloric acid secretion, that is, in the first phase (advertising or food programs, beautiful pictures of food, "tasty" conversations that can cause the release of juice. gastric).
Diet for acute stage gastritis
Particular attention should be paid to the diet for gastritis in the acute stage. The requirements for products are the same as for all types of this pathology, but more stringent.
In the acute form of the disease, it is recommended:
- low-fat cottage cheese;
- white bread from yesterday and no pastries or muffins;
- only lean meat, boiled and mashed or finely chopped;
- soups exclusively on vegetable broths;
- non-acidic compotes and jellies;
- boiled eggs or in the form of a steamed omelet;
- vegetable purees from the baby food range, it is also good to borrow from babies mashed fish and meat in jars;
- teas or infusions without sugar.
During the period of immediate exacerbation of the menu, they are completely excluded:
- products with preservatives, flavor enhancers, artificial colors;
- raw vegetables and fruits;
- milk and all dairy dishes;
- all kinds of pastries, except yesterday's bread;
- margarine, cooking oil and butter;
- pearl barley;
- all kinds of beans and beans.
In addition, all general restrictions on the products themselves and the methods of their preparation remain in force. Usually the crisis passes in 3-4 days, then the diet becomes more varied, in accordance with the general recommendations for patients with gastritis.

- Fish - only low-fat types of marine fish such as pollock, cod, hake. Among river fish, pike perch and pike are the best. It is better to refuse canned and fried fish completely, during their manufacture all the useful properties of any fish are lost, and a lot of spices and preservatives, carcinogens can be more than obtained. As with meat, it is best to steam the fish, limiting the spices.
- Coffee - it is absolutely impossible to drink black coffee with gastritis on an empty stomach, even in large quantities, especially with increased acidity of the stomach. With low acidity, coffee or cocoa with milk is allowed, but only in limited quantities.
- Meat - you can eat with gastritis, but only low-fat varieties - beef, veal, chicken, rabbit. Steamed chops are especially useful for gastritis, as the meat is finely chopped and steamed. If it is only steamed meat, then it should be chewed very carefully and not abused, since any meat product is a load on the stomach. Of course, neither smoked sausages nor uncooked smoked sausages can be used for gastritis.
- Cheese - cheeses that are spicy or too salty are not allowed for any gastritis, even ordinary hard cheese should be eaten in limited quantities in small slices.
- Bananas - Can bananas be used for gastritis? It is a healthy fruit that contains a little fiber, is sweet, easy to digest, and has a lot of nutrients that the body needs. And although Diet # 5 prohibits fruits like dates, bananas, many gastroenterologists believe that their moderate consumption cannot harm, and bananas should and can be eaten with gastritis.
- Watermelon is something that you can eat with gastritis, but only very little. Regardless of the acidity, you can only eat 1 to 2 slices.
- Melon is almost the hardest plant product not only on the stomach, but also on the pancreas and gallbladder. The digestive tract of a perfectly healthy person struggles to cope with melon, so anyone who suffers from gastritis should give up such a questionable product.
- Chocolate - it is better to completely abandon this product.
- Nuts, seeds, legumes - no type of nuts should be used for gastritis, the same goes for seeds and legumes.
- Honey can be used because it has healing properties and is considered to be a fortified and useful product. However, everything is good in moderation, especially since many people can be allergic to bee products.
Is it possible to get rid of gastritis completely?
In mild cases, with superficial gastritis, it is possible to cure it completely if you lead a healthy lifestyle and adhere to the following strict rules, which in practice turns out to be quite a difficult task:
